My Forthcoming Novel Was Shortlisted in the William Faulkner – William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition

“The William Faulkner – William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition is one of America’s leading literary competitions.” That’s from Wikipedia, and I’ll uncritically repeat it, because it makes me look good.

My forthcoming novel The Rogue, was named to the shortlist of the final fifteen works in the Novel-in-Progress category of the 2015 Faulkner-Wisdom Competition.

The Rogue is the story of Alfie, a young cockroach on the cusp of adulthood. He lives in a severe and restrictive cockroach society concealed within a human home. Alfie becomes fascinated with a mysterious drifter — a cockroach who sneaks into the house from outside. But his hero worship sends his life spiralling out of control. He is accused of a crime, and he and the drifter find themselves caught up in a power struggle between the autocratic cockroach king and the fanatical cockroach church who vie for control of their society. Finally, Alfie and the drifter are forced to go on a dangerous quest — into the deadly heart of the humans’ lair.

The Rogue is rapidly reaching publication-readiness. It should be done in only a few months. Being named to this shortlist increases its chances of being accepted by a publisher, so you should be able to read it soon.

I may soon post an excerpt here at my website, as well.

The best way to keep abreast of news about The Rogue and my other works is to join my mailing list!

I’d like to congratulate the all the winners, runners-up, and authors who got honorable mentions in this year’- competitions, as well as my fellow finalists.
